Let’s go back to the very beginning
Founder Mr. H.D.M. Gunasekera establishes Manhara printers in 1989; a leading printing press in the country that would slowly inspire his son to get into the industry.

This introduces the lynchpin of Sekara Productions, the main character to our founding story
His son, Mr. H.D.Hahsan K Gunasekera takes steps to begin work as an Assistant Graphic Designer at Manahara Printers in 2003 and builds his way up in rank in a mere two years, becoming a Senior Graphic Designer in 2005

Exploring other opportunities
With the skills and expertise he had acquired over the years, in 2012, Hashan Gunasekara receives a position at the Metropolitan Telecommunication Services as their Visual Communication Consultant.

A window of possibilities
It does not stop there as a year later he becomes the Visual Communication Consultant to Softlogic Office Automation.
2016
Sharpening his skills
Then in 2016, he is appointed once again as a Visual Communication Consultant for a leading apparel manufacturing company in Sri Lanka.

Awards and accolades — the push needed
In 2017, Gunasekara’s ‘Into The Frame’ is awarded the Merit award for the short film at the annual Youth short film festival organised by National Youth Services Council – Maharagama.

Another achievement
It is in 2018 that his short film, 10:10 wins 2nd place for the short film “10:10 “ at the Youth short film festival.

His foray into something new
Enjoying the success from his short films and realising that it was time to do something more and make an even bigger name for himself, Gunasekara establishes ‘Big Picture’, a video production brand as well in 2018.

Branching out
Wanting to further diversify his business, Gunasekara then creates a Digital Solutions brand as well under the name ‘Monalee’ in 2019. Monalee would transform the scope of digital solutions performed within the organisation.

The start of Sekara
With Big Picture, Monalee and Manahara under his responsibility, Gunasekara then makes the well-timed decision to combine the three under one umbrella organisation ‘Sekara Productions (Pvt) Ltd’ in 2019. Over the years, from the very beginning itself, Sekara has been growing and expanding to what it is now with a dedicated team of creatives. This is the story of how Sekara began and now let us tell your story too!
